Ever Think of Using Potted Plants Instead of Cut-Flower Arraignments? March 26, 2010

I am Macedonian, which mean I have gone to A TON of weddings!  I remember taking home flower arraignments after most of them.  The arraignments would last about a week and then we would throw them away.

What about potted plants instead of cut flowers?  You can also use these as the favor or give-away. People can take them home and plant them and keep the memories of your event all season.  Even better if you have perennials (plants that come back every year) people can be reminded of your event year after year.  What about taking the potted plants and landscaping your own home?  So many benefits!

Where do you get these potted plants?  You can do it yourself by buying repotting plants from local growers.  Some will repot for you as long as you buy the pots from their place. You can also talk to local landscaping company about buying arraignments of potted flowers.  You can also arrange them from large to small so that you can cover the not so pretty pots.

Last week I went to a home and garden show and some of the landscape companies had gorgeous displays.  I wonder if they rent out and set up those displays for events???

Another benefit is that the flowers will last a lot longer and will not wilt, unless you forget to water them. If you DIY, you can finish them weeks in advance rather then take the morning of your event arraigning cut flowers.

WARNING: Just make sure that you are buying local plants and not invasives.  Invasive plants are non-native plants that don’t have natural predators to control their growth. They are a major ecological problem.  For more information check out: http://www.invasiveplants.net/ or http://www.invasive.org
